A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available at Laboratory of Ambient and Wearable Systems at the University of Alabama. The laboratory is engaged in several NIH-sponsored research projects covering monitoring of human behaviors in natural environment, biofeedback and simulation of physiological indicators. The research will focus on developing signal processing and pattern recognition methodologies for biomedical signal analysis. The postdoc will also be involved in various aspects of wearable sensor design, development of software for data collection and user interaction, development of algorithms for matching self-reported/observed and sensor data, validation of developed methods in human studies.

 

The ideal candidate will be experienced with signal processing of sensor signals collected from human subjects (for example, Accelerometry/ECG/EMG, etc) and practically familiar with application of machine learning and computational intelligence methods for classification, regression analysis and optimization. Matlab, Labview and C/C+ (or Java) proficiency is desired. The candidate should have good oral and written communication skills, be capable of independent work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, publish results in academic journals and participate in grant proposal preparation. Applicants should have (or about to finish) a Ph.D. degree in Electrical, Computer or Biomedical Engineering or a related field. The initial appointment is for a period of two years.
